DLR Waves make first move in summer transfer market as defender Chelsee Snell returns

DLR Waves have made their first move in the summer transfer market with the capture of defender Chelsee Snell.

The Wicklow native recently returned from a 12-month placement working in video analsysis at Scottish club Hibernian and Waves have wasted little time in getting her on board.

Snell was, until last summer, a key part of Waves’ defence in their former guise as UCD Waves and was part of the squad that contested the 2017 FAI Cup final against Cork City at the Aviva Stadium.

The 21-year-old, who was part of the Wexford Youths side that contested the Champions League in 2016, was listed on the coaching staff during Sunday’s dramatic 4-3 win over City in Bishopstown.

The former Waterford IT student will join up with the squad following the midseason break and could be one of a couple of signings when Waves return to action at home to Galway on July 13th.

“Chelsee is back,” Waves coach Graham Kelly told extratime.ie.

“She was over working in Hibs. She was with Hibs for a year doing video analysis. She’s signed up now and will come back in July. One or two others could come in.

“It’s something we’ve got to look at. We’ll give the girls nine days off – a well-deserved break for them – and we’ll go back and try hit the ground running with Galway at home.”
