Hugo Keto completes loan move to Waterford from Brighton and Hove Albion

Waterford have confirmed the loan signing of goalkeeper Hugo Keto from Premier League club Brighton and Hove Albion until 30th June.

The 21-year-old has represented Finland at multiple age grades all the way up to under-21 level.

He began his career with hometown club HJK Helsinki and moved to Arsenal in 2014 before joining the Seagulls last summer.

Keto made 13 appearances for Brighton’s under-23 side, keeping four clean sheets since making his debut last August.

“I’m really happy to sign. It was a good opportunity to get some game time so it’s a good move. I want to get some men’s football into me too so it makes sense to come here,” Keto told the club’s website.

“I trained this morning in my first session and it was really good. I got to know the lads a bit and enjoyed it, so I’m looking forward to get going.”

Waterford manager Alan Reynolds said: “It’s great to bring in another quality keeper and there’ll be great competition for the number one jersey now.

"Hugo has got lots of experience from the development leagues in English with Arsenal and Brighton so we’re really happy to get it sorted.”

Keto completes his move just in time for Waterford’s Premier Division opener at the RSC this Friday (kick-off 7.45pm).
