Finn Harps sign Irish underage international Sobowale from Spanish club Hercules

First Division Finn Harps have strengthened their promotion push witb the signing of former Waterford United midfielder Oluwatunmise Sobowale.

Sobowale made his Harps debut in the 3-0 home win against Longford Town on Friday evening, and the Waterford native grabbed a debut goal for Ollie Horgan’s side.

Sobowale made his League of Ireland debut for the Blues against Cabinteely at the RSC in a scoreless draw in September 2016.

The 19-year-old spent time with Shelbourne between his first and second stint with the Blues, and was mostly recently on the books of Spanish club Hercules.

Finn Harps secretary John Campbell revealed his delight upon completing the deal after the long process of international clearance.

He said: “We’re are happy that the paperwork has finally been completed so that Timmie can be part of Ollie’s [Horgan] squad.

“We would like to all those who assisted us with getting the international clearance sorted.

“We hope it’s goes well for Timmie here at Finn Park and that he can play a big part in keeping us in the promotion race over the next couple of months.”
